Abstract: In this presentation, the faculty leader of the University at Buffalo Solar Decathlon team will discuss the overall requirements of the Department of Energy Competition, provide an overview of the mechanical system design for the house, share the results from the 2015 competition, and talk about next steps for the house as an energy education center on the University at Buffalo campus. At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will have a better understanding of the constraints of the Solar Decathlon competition, what types of mechanical systems may be appropriate for zero net energy houses, and how such systems can be expected to perform.
