Jerry Bastedo is the recipient of this year’s Nature Sanctuary Society of Western New York Environmental Educator Award. Jerry was a cofounder, first president, and first executive director of the Hamburg Natural History Society/Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center, directing the preservation and transformation of a former shale quarry in Hamburg, New York, into a paleontological and outdoor education center that provides a hands-on outdoor classroom for natural sciences studies.
